This website is for and about the community of Vermilion, Alberta. A secondary objective is to highlight the many different facets of this town and to show prospective employees, college students, fire etc students and employers what a nice place this town really is.

Web pages are available to any local or regional non profit group for free. Email me the information and any graphics or photos you wish to put on this website. Or drop off the information at Vermilion Stationery and Books. It's better to have something simple sooner and add more pages as you get around to them.

Alternatively I can setup an account and folder exclusively for your groups use so you can update your pages yourself. Low traffic domain hosting for non profit groups will also be free. You will need to register the domain name yourself.

You should always register your domain name yourself and keep the account name and password locked away. Or some other place inaccessible to others or employees. There is never a need to give that information to your web hosting service. If your web hosting service registers your domain name then they can easily use their email addresses in the domain information and you may never be able to control your domain. Disgruntled employees can cause you problems as a friend recently found out. Your web hosting service will provide you with the IP address and host name information which you then enter on your domain name registrar's web site.

Email addresses and mailing lists will also be available. Email addresses will allow your group to have one email address which in turn is forwarded to a members regular email address. Should that person no longer wish to receive emails then it can be forwarded to someone else. Mailing lists allow people to subscribe to announcements and participate in discussions via email automatically. You no longer need to manually cut and paste a number of email addresses when you want to send out emails to a group of people.

Web pages and domain hosting are available for business. A number of pages on this domain along with photos and setup are $50 per year. This includes all text being searchable in search engines rather than being embedded into photographs. Domain hosting for low traffic sites is $100 per year.

Future plans include a guest book, announcements mailing list and discussion areas. An information wanted area will be available for genealogy buffs to ask questions about the history of residents in the area.
