County of Vermilion River - McNabb
Wildlife Sanctuary
This is a very nice drive through the
rolling hills and coulees southeast of Vermilion. Depending on your
route either four miles of paved roads and eleven of gravel roads or seven
miles of paved and eight miles of gravel roads
Directions
- Seven miles south on Hwy 41. About a mile south of the largish
valley is the sign for Thorncliffe Road where you go east two miles to the
dead end. After a mile south you will have to follow the curve to then
proceed five miles east. Be careful of the faded stop sign at
Twp Road 492 two miles after the curve.
- Or four miles west of Hwy 41 on the Yellowhead Hwy to Range Road 62.
Then south eight and a half miles to Twp Road 492. East three miles.
Colin McNabb initially gave the western
quarter to the province. However he was quite disappointed with the
lack of attention the province was giving to his donation. He then
gave the home quarter to the county.
At one time Colin stated he was feeding
three hundred deer.
